about getting from point A to point B in the most interesting ways possible

If you're a large woman in America, your whole life is an opportunity to feel self-conscious, embarrassed, resentful and way too big. You can hide in the corner or on the couch, you can go to therapy, or you can put on your lycra bike shorts and get out there and move.

I'm feeling better permalink

Everything is looking up. The sky is clear and full of stars and planets. Full of possibility.

I went to see the sports therapist and the chiropractor tonight. The sports guy was happy with my progress, and didn't seem to think that I had done anything other than earn myself a rest day with my weekend hijinks. I graduated—his word—to a new set of exercises and stretches. I thought about begging him for marathon advice, but then I was struck by how hard the exercises were, and I forgot.

Not to worry. I asked the chiropractor. And he said, with the usual caveats, that he thought I'd have no problems. In the best of all circumstances, blah blah blah—but I have done this before. My hamstring/knee injury is healing nicely, totally in spite of me—I just needed to be going out there and doing it, and then being sure that I had the best possible rest time. Okay.

I felt about 20# lighter leaving the office. Okay. Maybe I haven't screwed everything up.

Yeah! Good job! Are you going to share the new workout plan?

So are you going to do the Austin marathon, then? Glad you're feeling better.
